Intrada Records launches Kickstarter for Dial M for Murder recording

Dial M for Murder one sheet, style AIntrada Records launched a crowd-funded Kickstarter project, its first, to record Dimitri Tiomkin’s score for the 1954 Alfred Hitchcock thriller Dial M for Murder. Intrada selected the film due to Tiomkin’s striking score that accentuates the film starring Ray Milland, Robert Cummings, and Grace Kelly (whose introduction to the director was facilitated by Tiomkin).

For this release, Intrada has engaged William T. Stromberg, who previously created a memorable recording of Tiomkin’s Red River. Stromberg has recorded numerous scores both for the Marco Polo label, including notable works by Max Steiner and Hans Salter, and with his own label, Tribute. Stromberg’s knowledge of classic film scores as well as his familiarity with the complexity and nuances of Tiomkin’s work, will enable him to deliver a sought-after recording of Dial M for Murder.

The score will be assembled with the assistance of Tiomkin expert Patrick Russ and the composer’s own publishing company, Volta Music, and recorded with the Slovak National Symphony Orchestra in the Slovak Radio Concert Hall.
