Tiomkin tune lands at number 25 on AFI’s 100 YEARS…100 SONGS

The Dimitri Tiomkin song “Do Not Forsake Me” from the 1952 film High Noon ranks number 25 on the AFI’s 100 YEARS…100 SONGS list. The American Film Institute is known worldwide for its film lists, film conservatory, and meticulously researched catalog of feature films.



The criteria for the making the AFI list? A song from an American feature-length fiction film with cultural impact and legacy. The enduring popularity of “Do Not Forsake Me” and it’s pivotal role in the film make it a sound choice.

The list was unveiled on The AFI’s 100 Years…100 Songs television special, hosted by John Travolta, which aired on June 22, 2004.
