As Margaret Herrick Library director Linda Mehr points out in the Foreword, “The entries in Film and Television Music assist researchers by providing thoughtful and succinct synopses of the contents of books and articles from the silent era to the digital age. With the aid of a detailed index, one will be able to find the works that deal with sociological or aesthetic aspects, practical suggestions for composing, a practicing musician’s treatise on music for accompanying films in 1913, or a television rehearsal and studio pianist’s experiences with variety shows in the 1960s and 1970s.”
