LSO Hangout with conductor Richard Kaufman, August 7

The London Symphony Orchestra will present conductor Richard Kaufman on the next LSO Hangout on Tuesday, August 7 at 11 a.m. PDT, 2 p.m. EDT, 7 p.m. BST. The Google+ Hangout with Richard Kaufman can be viewed live around the world on a computer with an Internet connection.

Richard Kaufman, who conducted the incomparable musicians of the London Symphony Orchestra and London Voices for the LSO Live recording of “The Greatest Film Scores of Dimitri Tiomkin,” will be chatting with orchestrator Patrick Russ and with Film Score Monthly UK Correspondent Tim Burden. The Hangout will stream for 45 minutes via Hangouts On Air enabling viewers to watch live on the LSO’s YouTube channel. The entire recording will be available on YouTube afterwards. Hangouts are part of the Google+ social network and feature live video streams with up to 9 people, in which all participants can be seen and heard. An unlimited number of users can watch Google+ Hangouts On Air, which became widely available in May 2012.

Jo Johnson, Digital Marketing Manager of the London Symphony Orchestra, made the arrangements for the Hangout with Richard Kaufman. The three previous LSO Hangouts featured violinists Sarah Chang and Maxine Kwok-Adams, LSO Soundhub Composers, and Maxine Kwok-Adams with Rhys Watkins. This is the first LSO Hangout with film music as the topic and is in conjunction with the aforementioned LSO Live CD release of Tiomkin’s music.
