UPDATE (after the program aired)
The first hour of Goodall’s program was devoted to Tiomkin and the LSO Live release of “The Greatest Film Scores of Dimitri Tiomkin.” Goodall selected nine tracks from the CD, showcasing music Tiomkin wrote for films directed by Alfred Hitchcock, George Stevens, Howard Hawks, and others. Calling Tiomkin’s music “wonderful,” Goodall remarked that he wasn’t that familiar with Tiomkin’s Western film scores prior to auditioning this CD.

Cyrano de Bergerac – Overture
Friendly Persuasion – The Fair, Thee I Love
The Alamo – Suite
Hitchcock Suite – Dial ‘M’ for Murder & Strangers on a Train
The Old Man and the Sea – Theme, Cubana and Finale

The program will include music from John Powell’s score for Ice Age 4 (2012) and music from Gabriel Yared’s score for Cold Mountain (2003), the latter nominated for best original score by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Yared is this week’s Movie Music Master and Goodall will play a selection of his music.
