Dimitri Tiomkin’s score for The Four Poster has been issued for the first time on compact disc. This is the seventh in a series of Tiomkin scores produced by Ray Faiola of Chelsea Rialto Studios and Craig Spaulding, and released by Screen Archives Entertainment (click here to order) in association with Volta Music Corp. Five sample tracks can be heard on the Screen Archives web site at the link above.
The limited-edition soundtrack (SAECRS023) contains 29 music tracks. Film music enthusiast Faiola wrote film production and music notes for the 24-page color booklet. The primary source material is acetate discs in the Dimitri Tiomkin Collection at the Cinematic Arts Library at USC. These were supplemented by acetate discs from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Margaret Herrick Library. The latter Tiomkin recordings were among Erich Wolfgang Korngold disc recordings that Les Korngold and the Korngold family donated to the library in 2010. George Korngold may have held the discs with the intent of producing an LP record.
