Dimitri Tiomkin recording honored with Grammy nominations, December 2012

Two participants in the LSO Live recording of “The Greatest Film Scores of Dimitri Tiomkin” were honored with Grammy nominations for their creative efforts. The nominations went to James Mallinson for Classical Producer of the Year and Nan Schwartz for her moody arrangement of “Wild Is the Wind.” Mallinson’s nod acknowledges his prolific work over the past year on a number of diverse recordings featuring symphonic and operatic music composed by Britten, Bruckner, Massenet, Rachmaninov, and Tiomkin.

The LSO Live CD of “The Greatest Film Scores of Dimitri Tiomkin,” produced by James Mallinson, features the London Symphony Orchestra and London Voices conducted by Richard Kaufman and includes vocals by Whitney Claire Kaufman and Andrew Playfoot.

The Recording Academy announced the nominations for the 55th Annual Grammy Awards on December 5. The Grammy Awards will be held on Sunday, February 10, 2013, at Staples Center in Los Angeles, and will be broadcast live on CBS.
