Gunfight at the O.K. Corral issued by La-La Land Records

La-La Land Records and Paramount Pictures have teamed up for the release on December 5 of a remastered digital recording of Dimitri Tiomkin’s score for Gunfight at the O.K. Corral on CD.

This world premiere release of Tiomkin’s original motion picture score to the 1957 Paramount Western is available at a retail price of US$19.98 in an edition limited to 2,000 units.

Mastered from Paramount Pictures vault elements the CD contains 19 tracks from the film, including vocals by Frankie Laine for the film’s opening, closing and act break versions of “Gunfight at the O.K. Corral”; eight bonus stereo tracks; ten bonus source music cues of traditional and arranged music; and two demos of the Gunfight theme song sung by Rex Allen and Tony Romano, respectively.

Gunfight at the O.K. Corral, produced by Hal B. Wallis and directed by John Sturges, features Burt Lancaster, Kirk Douglas, and Jo Van Fleet, with Rhonda Fleming, Dennis Hopper and DeForest Kelley in supporting roles.

The recording was produced by Neil S. Bulk and executive produced by Lukas Kendall. Doug Schwartz mastered the music using elements from the Paramount Music vault. The booklet contains extensive liner notes by Frank K. DeWald; the art direction is by Joe Sikoryak.

Sample tracks for the “Gunfight at the O.K. Corral (Frankie Laine, vocal),” “End of Gunfight,” and three additional tracks can be heard at La-La Land Records.

The limited edition release, featuring more than one hour of music, is catalog number LLLCD 1280. La-La Lands previous releases of Tiomkin’s music include The Fall of the Roman Empire and 55 Days at Peking.
