Tiomkin-scored films at AFI Silver Theatre

The AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center, a program of the American Film Institute, presents “Frank Capra in the 1930s” and “Leading Ladies of Hollywood’s Golden Age.” Four films scored by Dimitri Tiomkin will be screened as part of the programs.

The AFI Silver is a state-of the-art moving image exhibition, education, and cultural center housed in the historic Silver Theater in Silver Springs, Maryland. The exceptional technical facilities include film formats from 16mm to 70mm, as well as high definition digital cinema video projection.

As part of the “Leading Ladies of Hollywood’s Golden Age,” featuring Olivia de Havilland, the following Dimitri Tiomkin-scored film will be screened.

The print that will be screened for LOST HORIZON is newly restored according to the AFI Silver website.

Dimitri Tiomkin’s score was among the nominations and LOST HORIZON is a seminal work in the composer’s oeuvre.
